Crimea Jewish Population Decreases; Number of Colonists Growing

Seventy-two nationalities inhabit the peninsula of Crimea which has a population of 413,823. according to the official census of the Soviet authorities.

The Jewish population of Crimea numbers 39.921 representing 5.6 per cent, of the total population. The Russians number 42.2 per cent and the Tartars 25.1 per cent.

A comparison with the figures of the census taken in 1921 shows that the Jewish population in Crimea has decreased 19.2 per cent. Simultaneously, the number of Jewish colonists in Crimea has increased from 1,000 in 1921 to 4,000.
