The crisis within the executive of the Jewish Agency resulting from the differences of opinion between Dr. Chaim Weizmann and David Ben-Gurion remained unsolved today, after a meeting of the small Zionist Actions Committee which was convoked to deal with the problem.
The session of the Actions Committee, which Ben-Gurion refused to attend, was unable to arrive at any conclusion. It, therefore, decided to postpone action for another week while negotiations are conducted between Zionist leaders in London and in Jerusalem in an effort to induce Mr. Ben-Gurion to withdraw his resignation and to reconcile him and Dr. Weizmann.
The Davar, Laborite daily newspaper, today publishes an editorial appealing to the highest Jewish institutions to obtain peace between Dr. Weizmann and Ben-Gurion and prevent disruption in the ranks of Zionist leadership. “Don’t let Dr. Weizmann or Ben-Gurion leave in this critical hour,” the paper urges. (Addressing a Mizrachi meeting in London last night, Chief Rabbi Herz said: “We are satisfied with Dr. Weizmann as our spokesman.”)
