The question of whether or not the editor of the anti-Jewish pro-Nazi newspaper “Slovak,” organ of President Tiso and Premier Tuka of Slovakia, has Jewish blood has precipitated a minor crisis in the German puppet state, it was revealed today.
Editor Pauce of the “Slovak” is suing Anton Maly, director of the Zilina Electrical Works, for libel because the latter said Pauco was of Jewish origin. The Gardista, organ of Sane Mach, Slovakian Minister of the Interior, and a political opponent of Tiso and Tuka, received here today, plays up the case with obvious relish, in order to bring the President and Premier into disrepute. Mach is violently anti-Semitic and has been in charge of the anti-Jewish campaign in Slovakia, which has resulted in more than half the Jewish population of the country being deported.
Meanwhile, the Zilina court where the libel suit is being heard has allowed Maly’s lawyer to introduce evidence proving his assertion, but no verdict has yet been rendered.
