Dr. Abraham L. Zissu, leader of the Jewish National Party, today joined Dr. William Filderman, president of the Federation of Jewish Communities in Rumania, in demanding that the Rumanian Government amend its decree abolishing anti-Jewish legislation so as to make it more acceptable to Jews.

“The Jews in Rumania,” Dr. Zissu told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, “are willing to partake of the hardships now being suffered by the country, but they also wish to secure equality in fact and not only on paper. The decree abolishing the anti-Jewish laws of the former Rumanian regime may satisfy lawyers, but it is not satisfactory to the Jews, since the majority of them will not secure their full rights as ousted employees and as landlords and tenants who were ejected from their homes.”

Dr. Filderman today continued his criticism of the new decree by publishing in the Rumanian press an article analyzing the constitutional and juridical defects of the measure. The article insists on immediate reinstatement of Jews ousted from employment and an the removal from Jewish apartments of Rumanians who moved in when the Jewish dwellers were ejected under the anti-Jewish regulations.
