British authorities on the island of Cyprus asked Israel today to send tents to help house an estimated 3,000 victims of the earthquake that shook the island last week causing heavy damage and some loss of life. The request was conveyed to the Israel authorities through the British Embassy here. Israel had previously offered naval and air units for emergency rescue operations.
