The chairman of the Parliamentary Constitutional Commission, which is drafting a national constitution for Czechoslovakia, today explained to representatives of the Council of Jewish Communities of Bohemia and Moravia that it was not necessary to include specific guarantees of Jewish rights because the new charter would contain measures to safeguard the fundamental freedoms and human rights of all citizens.
He pointed out that in addition the draft constitution provided penalties for violation of such clauses. It also declares all religions to be equal in the eyes of the law and guarantees freedom of worship. Among the most important points is the establishment of equality of citizenship regardless of nationality.
