Czech Jewish leaders and Czech President Vaclav Havel are criticizing the German government’s decision to postpone the establishment of a fund to finance community projects for victims of Nazism. Germany said the Fund for the Future, which was outlined in a declaration signed last January, would not be operational until at least the end of January 1998.
