A spokesman for Cedok, the official Czechoslovakian travel agency, said in Prague today that Czechoslovakia had cancelled plans to promote Jewish tourism in 1968 in connection with a celebration of the 1000th anniversary of the Czech Jewish community.
The Cedok spokesman said that “the situation between Israel and Czechoslovakia” arising from the Arab-Israel war and severance by Prague of diplomatic relations with Israel caused the cancellation of the Jewish anniversary festival.
Cedok had prior to June 5, when the war erupted, envisaged the anniversary as an opportunity to attract large numbers of Jewish tourists of American and other Western nationalities.
