Two J.D.C. Directors Killed in Plane Crash; Were En Route to Poland and Czechoslovakia

David Guzik, director of the Joint Distribution Committee in Poland, and Gertrude D. Pinsky, director of the J.D.C. for the Netherlands, were killed on Tuesday in a plane crash at the Prague airfield, it was announced here today. Guzik was en route from Paris to Warsaw. Miss Pinsky was flying to Prague on special mission to bring relief to Czechoslovakian Jews.

Mr. Guzik, 55 years old, was the only one of three J.D.C. directors in Poland escape death at the hands of the Nazis. He carried out an heroic underground relief program during the years of Nazi occupation. All members of his family were killed by the Nazis, with the exception of one son who escaped and found haven in Palestine.

Miss Pinsky, 37, of Cincinnati, last month completed two years of service with the J.D.C., holding posts in South America and Europe. She was born in Russia and came to the United States at the age of seven.
