The Danish Government has withdrawn a proposed law to ban shechita, Jewish ritual slaughter of animals for food, following a ruling by the Israel Chief Rabbinate that electrocution of animals before slaughter would violate Jewish law, it was reported here today. The Danish Government had offered the electrocution method as an alternative to shechita.
