David Danzig, an internationally known authority on intergroup relations and an associate professor of social work at Columbia University, died here today at the age of 58. Mr. Danzig headed the Intergroup Relations Area at Columbia and was a staff member of the American Jewish Committee since 1947. Services will be held Monday.
He served the AJ Committee as program director starting in 1947 and became associate director in 1963. He served as a consultant on intergroup relations-to the White House Conference on Civil Rights, the U.S. Office of Economic Opportunity, the Community Relations Service of the U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. Conference of Mayors, and the Race Relations Commission of the United Kingdom. From 1942 to 1946 Mr. Danzig was national program director of the United Service Organization (USO). His writings appeared in a number of national magazines, including Commentary, the Saturday Review, America and Commonweal.
