After a number of conferences with the heads of the Intergovernmental Committee on Refugees and with British Jewish organizations active in the rescue of Jews from Europe, David Schweitzer, special representative of the Hias-Ica Emigration Association, today annonced that he is returning to European headquarters of the organization in Lisbon after an absence of about a year.
Mr. Schweitzer spent the year in the Middle East, where he conducted negotiations in Palestine with the Jewish Agency on behalf of the Hias-Ica, and represented his organization in Turkey on a special committee established by the War Refugee Board for coordinating the work of rescue of Jews from the Balkan countries.
