A $5,000 prize was presented to David Weiss for his novel “The Guilt Makers,” judged the best book of the year on an American Jewish theme, at a banquet here last night of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations. The literary contest was sponsored jointly by the UAHC and Alexander Frieder, who established the Frieder Award in memory of his late wife Corinne.
