An exhibition marking the American Jewish Tercentenary, which has been presented by the Detroit Historical Museum since September 12, will close here this Sunday, after attracting thousands of visitors. The Tercentenary was also marked by a special concert by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.
Philip Slomovitz, chairman of the Detroit Tercentenary Committee, in a message to the audience at the concert, said: “During the three centuries of the development of the American Jewish community, our people have established the great tradition of caring for the needy, of providing means and sustenance for the aged and orphaned, of assuring security for the homeless through the support and encouragement we have given to Israel. As we re-evaluate our contributions to humanity during our Tercentenary celebrations, we re-dedicate ourselves to these humanitarian ideals.”
