Delegation Asks Admission of 10,000 Children

A delegation of Jewish leaders called on Chief Secretary William D. Battershill and demanded that the Palestine Government admit 10,000 German-Jewish refugee children, 5,000 of them immediately. The Jewish National Council announced appointment of Miss Henrietta Szold as head of its organization to facilitate settlement of German-Jewish children refugees. Miss Szold, who is founder of Hadassah, is director of the Youth Aliyah.

Mrs. Rachel Weizmann, octogenarian mother of Dr. Chaim Weizmann, announced at a meeting in Haifa that she is adopting three German-Jewish refugee children and called upon others to follow her example.

The engineer and fireman of a freight train were seriously injured today when the train was derailed by Arab terrorists between Haifa and Beisan. The Arab newspaper Adifaa reported that the Palestine Government was negotiating with the Egyptian Red Crescent, a medical organization, for dispatch of a medical mission to Palestine to assist “Arab sufferers.”
