The French Jewish actor, Demax, died last night at the age of 55.
Demax, who dominated the French stage for a quarter of a century, was born at Jassy, Roumania: For many years he played with Sarah Bernhardt.
The French press devotes much space to the obituary notices of Demax and declares that his death is a tremendous loss to the French stage. “We have lost a great actor”, they say.
