For a fourth straight day, hundreds of Palestinians demonstrated outside of Rachel’s Tomb on the outskirts of Palestinian-ruled Bethlehem, to protest construction of a security wall around the site by Israeli security forces.
Under the Israeli-Palestinian peace accords, Israel maintains security responsibility over the Jewish shrine. The Palestinians are opposed to the work, saying it is causing damage to a nearby Muslim cemetery and is disrupting traffic to Bethlehem.
The demonstrators threw stones and empty bottles at the Israeli troops.
The crowd dispersed after Palestinian police arrived at the site.
