The 29th annual meeting of the National Jewish Hospital Association opened here today, on the occasion of the laying of the cornerstone for the Louis Heineman Surgical Building for Children, which is being erected through the bequest received from the estate of Mr. Heineman, who died in Jamestown. N. Y. July 1927. The bequest amounted to approximately $150,000, and the addition of the new building offers new facilities for the treatment of children (###) with glandular tuberculosis and tuberculosis of the bones and joints.
Heretofore students of this type have been cared for in the Hoffheimer Prevemtorium of the Hospital, but increasing recognition throughout the country of the value of natural sun-treatment in bone and joint tuberculosis made it imperative to secure additional facilities, for the intensification of work of this sort.
Dr. William S. Friedman, founder of the hospital and chairman of the board of managers, laid the cornerstone. Ben. F. Stapleton. Mayor of Denver. and Gov. William Adams of Colorado were present. Mrs. Seraphine Pisko, honorary executive secretary of the hospital; Dr. I. D. Bronfin medical director; Judge Ben Lindsey city. addressed the gathering.
