The City of Denver has adopted an ordinance governing the submission of real estate development schemes which prohibits the inclusion of discriminatory restrictive covenants based upon religion or race.

The action of the city council makes Denver the first city in the United States to give substance to United States Supreme Court decisions declaring real estate covenants which discriminate on grounds of race, color or religion legally unenforceable.
