Jewish circles all over the country attacked the report, declaring that the agent of the police who had been present at the meeting had failed to understand Ladino, the Judeo-Spanish dialect employed by the Sephardic Jews, and had deliberately garbled and mutilated words and phrases employed by the speakers.
Jewish newspapers also claimed that the police agent had denounced Jewish Boy Scouts, declaring that they wore the Shield of David over the Greek flag, whereas they had only worn the regular uniform of the Greek Boy Scout organization.
