“Der Yiddisher Landwirt,” organ of the Tor, the Jewish society for settling Jews on the land in Poland, has appeared here.
An introduction in the first issue states that “Der Yiddisher Landwirt” will seek to establish contact among the thousands of Jewish farmers scattered throughout Poland, the tens of thousands of Jewish families deriving a livelihood from agriculture and the many Jewish village settlements. The purpose of the paper will also be to develop Jewish agriculture in Poland.
The Jewish Social Workers’ Club of Pitteburg gave a testimonial dinner on Thursday to Dr. Ludwig B. Bernstein on the occasion of his twenty-fifth anniversary in Jewish social service work. Jewish and non-Jewish social workers of the city were present to honor the executive director of the Federation of Jewish Philanthropies. Arnold Deutelbaum, president of the club, was toastmaster, Judge Josiah Cohen, of the Court of Common Pleas, Dr. Samuel H. Goldenson, of the Rodef Shalom Temple, Sidney A. Teller, of the Irene Kaufman Settlement, Dr. Edward N. Clopper, executive secretary of the Pittsburgh Federation of Social Agencies, and Irvin F. Lehman president of the Federation of Jewish Philanthropies of Pittsburg were the speakers.
