Tzvi Haitel, representative of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, reported today on his return from a visit to Moscow, on details of the first cultural exchange agreement between the Soviet Union and Israel.
He said that contracts had been signed in Moscow with several leading Soviet musicians to appear in concert with the Israel orchestra here. They included violinist Leon Cogan and pianists Emil Gilels and Sviatislaw Richter. Mr. Haftel said that Israeli violinists Itzhak Perlmann and Shmuel Ashkenazi will go to Russia for exchange concerts.
Mr. Haftel also reported he had negotiated on an exchange of orchestra appearances and on an invitation to the Bolshoi or Leningrad ballets; He said he had been received by Deputy Culture Minister Ivan Svetkow, who welcomed the contracts and who expressed the hope that they might open a new page in relations between Russia and Israel; Officials of Goskoncert, a Soviet organization handling musical affairs, took part in the talks in Moscow.
