Initial gifts to the Allied Jewish Campaign totaling $3,291,154-representing 68 percent of last year’s total of $4,850,000-were reported here at a dinner meeting addressed by Rabbi Herbert A. Friedman, executive vice-president of the United Jewish Appeal. The objective of the Allied Jewish Campaign this year is to exceed the $5,000,000 figure, Irwin I, Cohn, campaign chairman said.
The campaign total of $3,291,154 was announced to the gathering by Isidore Sobeloff, executive vice-president of the Jewish Welfare Federation. Mr. Sobeloff urged the campaign leaders “to go forward, to keep working, to use information they received to persuade and to convince others, in the hope that we will do better than ever before. “
