Local Zionist groups will hold a Bialik memorial meeting July 24 at the Philadelphia-Byron Hall. A speaker of national prominence is slated to deliver the principal address.
In a statement issued by Bernard Isaacs, superintendent of the United Hebrew Schools, Bialik is lauded as an eminent author of Hebrew textbooks. He pointed out that the dead poet was “the first one to conceive of the idea of teaching the children the Bible not in its full unabridged form but in a specially prepared edition for schools.”
