The Detroit Jewish Debating League has been or ganized and it will commence its activities February 4 when the first round of debates will take place on the central theme, “Resolved, that in view of the current Nazi persecutions of the Jews in Germany, an organized boycott of German goods on the part of the Jews in the United States is desirable.” Theodore H. Baruch is league manager.

The debating league consists of six members, Congregation Shaarey Zedek, Temple Beth El, Congregation B’nai David, Congregation B’nai Moshe, the Jewish Center and the Philomathic Debating Society. Each member is represented by a three man team which will debate both sides of the question, constituting four rounds of debate for each team.

The teams will compete for a city championship which will be determined on the basis of the number of debates won and lost throughout the season, as well as of a point system.
