A total of $95,029 or fifty-four per cent of the goal was reported at the end of the first week of the Allied Jewish Campaign at luncheon of workers at Hotel Statler. Of this amount, $59,529 or forty-seven per cent of their assigned quota was raised by the special gifts division and $35,500, or fifty-nine per cent of their quota, by the general division.
The money is being raised for eight local agencies and eighteen national and international causes, including principally the American Campaign and the Joint Distribution Committee, which are conducting the work of relieving the suffering of German Jews and setting them in Palestine. The campaign will close June7.
