The sum of $50,000 was contributed here today by Moishe Shaver, communal leader and chairman of the Goverkshaften Campaign, for the establishment of an institution in Palestine in the name of his late parents.
The announcement of the contribution was made on the occasion of Mr. Shaver’s fiftieth birthday which was observed at a reception at the Statler Hotel here attended by 500 representatives of various organizations in Detroit and by leader of the American Zionist labor movement who came from New York. As an expression of appreciation of T. Shaver’s services to the community, the Labor Zionist movement in Detroit decided to acquire in his honor 400 dunams of land through the Jewish National Fund.
