Mayor Roman S. Gibbs has declared the week ending May 2 “Israeli Trade Fair Week” in this city, and has urged all Detroiters to attend a free-admission display of Israeli products at the Detroit Jewish Community Center. “Detroiters,” he noted, “have, for many years, proven themselves to be close friends of Israel and have frequently offered their support.” The fair is co-sponsored by the Jewish Center and the Detroit Zionist Federation. Group visits are being planned by organizations and schools. In many cases, attendance at the fair by school children will be substituted for regular classes. In addition to the selling of Israeli-made products–clothing, jewelry, furniture, books, pottery, tires groceries, boats, objects d’art and religious items–there will be films, speeches, games and entertainment.
