The first day of the Detroit Emergency Allied Jewish Campaign saw the drive off to an excellent start when workers reported that they had raised a total of $71,405, or seventy-two per cent of the entire quota of $98,500.

The campaign officially opened with a dinner Monday evening, at which the principal address was delivered by Dr. Solomon B. Freehof of Chicago.
