The dismissal of Dr. Guenther Keil, professor of German at Hunter College, on the ground “that he has exposed himself to the inference that he is a Nazi propagandist” was requested of the New York Board of Higher Education yesterday by Bernard S. Deutsch, president of the American Jewish Congress. Mr. Deutsch addressed a communication to Mark Eisner, chairman of the board, asking that action be taken against Dr. Keil.
Quoting a news story which appeared in the New York Sun on July 28, Mr. Deutsch pointed out that Dr. Keil, on his return here from Germany, is alleged to have stated that “strict measures are needed to strengthen the unity Hitler needs to weld Germany together.”
