An appeal to the governments of the United States and Britain to ease their immigration regulations to permit the entry of additional numbers of refugees was voiced here today by Congressman Samuel Dickstein, addressing a conference called by the Jewish Peoples Committee. He also urged lifting of immigration restrictions in Palestine. Discussing the extent of anti-Semitic, agitation in the United States, Rep. Dickstein called on Congress to pass his bill making it illegal to send anti-Semitic material through the mails.
Congressman Emanuel Cellar criticized Rep. Sol Bloom, one of the delegates to the recent Bermuda Conference, for his failure to take a decisive stand there on the question of aiding the Jews in Europe. Other speakers included Congressman Walter Lynch, Max Perlow, president of the Jewish Peoples Committee and several other legislators and trade union leaders.
