“Die Gegenwart”, two issues of which appeared recently, is a new feature in Jewish journalism in America. It is a one-man monthly, issued and edited by S. E. Imber.
Mr. Imber, one of the well-known Jewish poets of Europe, has a distinguished record of literary achievement. Starting 20 years ago in the field of lyricism, which found expression in his numerous poems, ballads and songs, he is at the same time aware of the political problems that face the Jewish people, and expresses his thoughts on these problems in a forceful and convincing manner which is even more convincing since it is welded with a message of lyrical appeal.
