The “Salute to the President of Israel” dinner schedule to take place at the Waldorf-Astoria April 23 will be held “as previously announced, notwithstanding our disappointment at the inability of President Truman to be with us on this occasion,” a statement released during the week-end by Meyer Weisgal, executive vice-chairman of the American Friends of the Weizmann Institute of Science–sponsors of the dinner–declared. President Truman was scheduled to be a major speaker at the dinner, but announced last week that he would be unable to attend the to pressing work.
