Diplomatic representatives of foreign nations were understood today to have called on the Foreign Office to seek protection for their Jewish nationals tomorrow because of fears that the funeral tomorrow in Dusseldorf of Ernst von Rath, would be used as a pretext for further anti-Jewish outbreaks. The scheduled funeral increased Jews’ fears that their “black days” of last week were not the last they would witness. Work of repairing damages of last week’s depredations was going on throughout Berlin. In several cases Jewish merchants who replaced shattered glass found their windows again broken.
