Rabbi Samuel Sandmel, director of the B’nai B’rith Hillel Foundation at Yale University, has been named the first Professor of Jewish Literature and Thought at Vanderbilt University, it was announced here this week-end. The professorship will be supported by funds from the Hillel Foundation and the Carnegie Corporation will contribute an initial assisting grant.
