Chancellor Engelbert Dollfuss today concentrated supreme civil and military power in his own hands through the reconstruction of his cabinet. In the new cabinet Chancellor Dollfuss assumes the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Defense and Agriculture.

The new orientation in Austrian politics indicates that an attempt will be made for reapproachment with Nazi Germany. Stephen Tauschnitz, Austrian Ambassador in Berlin, and who is regarded as the outstanding exponent of Pan-Germanism, has been recalled to Vienna to assume the post of Under Secretary for Foreign Affairs.

Following a clash, which is said to have occurred between the regular Austrian army and the Fascist Heimwehr commanded by Prince von Starhemberg in Graz Prince von Schoenberg – Hartenstein, Minister of Defense in the Dollfuss cabinet, resigned. Chancellor Dollfuss immediately presented the resignation of his cabinet to President Miklas. stand that his firm has furnished

The new cabinet failed to include Ministers Kerbe0072, Glass, Prince Schoenberg-Hartenstein and Ender.

A decree was immediately issued by the new Dollfuss government inflicting the death penalty for the possession of explosives. Major Emil Fey, former Minister of Security and now head of a commission for public security, announced that exceptional measures will be taken against Austrian Nazis responsible for the bombing campaign in Austria.

Well-informed circles here believe that the new cabinet in which power is concentrated in the hands of the Dollfuss-Fey-Starhemberg group is a last desperate attempt to retain the present independence of Austria, which is held to have been seriously compromised by the Mussolini – Hitler agreement in Venice.
