The “Judische Rundschau,” the organ of the German Zionist Federation, calls attention to what it describes as “the double-faced Nazi policy of giving calming assurances abroad, while continuing to tolerate anti-Jewish activities at home.” The “Rundschau” cites as examples the case of the Thuringian government’s statement which opened with the assurance of protection for the Jews, while the press at home carried only that part of the statement which announced the ban on the Central Union of German Citizens of the Jewish Faith and cast reflections on its loyalty. It also mentions the fact that while the assurances by Minister Goering to the effect that the Jews of Germany were safe was published abroad, this statement was not reproduced in Germany.
