Dr. Amos Luzzatto was elected leader of Italy’s Jewish community. Luzzatto, 70, replaces Tullia Zevi, who stepped down last month as president of the Union of Italian Jewish Communities after 16 years in office. A physician living in Venice, Luzzatto is also a respected scholar in Jewish studies and has long been an active participant in interreligious dialogue.
