Dr. Armando Lorani, Noted Italian Jewish Savant, Dies

Dr. Armando Lorani, rabbi of Ferrara, died in that city.

Dr. Lorani had studied at the Collegio Rabbinico Italiano of Florence under the late Professor Margulies, the late Professor Chajes, and Professor Ismar Elbogen. He was one of the outstanding scholars in the Italian Rabbinate. He translated many Jewish works into Italian, including the poems of Bialik, and a number of stories by Peretz. He also made a poetic translation of the Psalms into Italian.

The whole of the population of Ferrara attended the funeral. The State and Municipal authorities were present and the Archbishop of Ferrara delivered an address. The Rabbis of Padua, Venice, Verona, Bologna, Modena, Mantua, and Parma attended. Felice Ravenna. President of the Jewish Community of Ferrara and member of the Actions Committee of the Zionist World Organization, and Dr. Glass representing the Zionist Organization of Italy, spoke.
