The Jewish Agency announced today the appointment of Dr. Samuel M. Blumenfeld, president of the College of Jewish Studies in Chicago, as director of its Department for Education and Culture in New York. He will also act as director of the Cultural Department of the American Zionist Council.
Dr. Blumenfeld is on leave of absence from the College of Jewish Studies for the academic year 1954-55. He is a member of the Commission on Religion of the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education. He is a former president of the National Council for Jewish Education. Dr. Blumenfeld is also the author of numerous scholarly works in the field of Jewish and general education.
