Dr. Chaim Weizmann will open the Detroit United Palestine Appeal for $110,000 at the banquet at Hotel Statler, Sunday evening.
The Detroit campaign is headed by Joseph H. Ehrlich. Fred M. Butzel is the honorary chairman.
ABRAHAM HERMAN, HIAS PRESIDENT, REELECTED
Abraham Herman, president of the Hebrew Sheltering and Immigrant Aid Society of America, was re-elected to that post for a third term at a meeting of the Board of Director held last night.
The officers elected were Vice-Presidents Leon Kamaiky, Albert Rosenblatt, Max Myerson and Morris Weinberg of New York, Adolph Copeland, President of the Chicago Branch, Howard S. Levy, President of the Philadelphia Branch, Harris Poorvu, President of the Boston Branch, Leo S. Schwabacher, President of the Seattle Branch, Israel Silberstein, President of the Baltimore Branch and Harry K. Wolff. President of the San Francisco Branch; Treasurer, Harry Fischel, and Honorary Secretary Aaron Benjamin.
Among the new members of the Board of Directors are Louis Fabricant and Nathan Zvirin.
$100,000 GIFT FOR JEWISH THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY
A contribution of $100,000 toward the erection of the proposed buildings of the Jewish Theological Seminary of America was made by William Prager, one of the directors of the Seminary.
Mr. Prager made the contribution on the occasion of his seventieth birthday.
In recognition of his generosity the Board of Directors of the Seminary proposes to name one of the chairs of the faculty for him.
