Dr. David Montagu Eder, psychoanalyst and veteran Zionist leader, died here today at the age of 71.
After having practiced medicine in Columbia, South America, for a number of years, Dr. Eder returned to London, city his birth, and devoted himself to psychoanalysis and school hygiene, subjects on which he wrote many theses. He founded the monthly magazine, “School Hygiene.”
Dr. Eder, in 1908, accompanied an expedition to Cyrenaica sponsored by the Jewish Territorialist Organization. Ten years later he was a member of the same group’s commission to investigate settlement possibilities for Jews in Palestine. While in Palestine, Dr. Eder became a member of the Zionist Executive. He returned to London in 1923 and was made chairman of the London committee for the Hebrew University in Palestine. From 1926 to 1928 he was a member of the Zionist Executive in London.
