Dr. Nahum Goldmann was booed off a campus stage Wednesday in the second such incident in recent days–this time before completing a single sentence of his remarks. The incident occurred at Bar Dan University in Ramat Gan, where the president of the World Jewish Congress was hissed for his controversial proposal for “a neutralized Israel” to offset Arab aggression. Last week a similar response led him to leave the auditorium at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem after a series of interruptions. Yesterday’s demonstrators raised a banner reading “Traitor” and shouted “Go to Moscow” Some simply turned their backs on him. (In Paris, Dr. Goldmann was supported by several prominent left-wing personalities. One of them, who signed a letter of support, was Andre Blumel, well-known lawyer and former president of the Zionist Federation of France, Leon Blum. The letter urged Israel to give up its demands for direct negotiations with the Arabs and to accept the principal of withdrawal from the occupied territories.)
