DR. GOLDMANN CITES PROF. BRODETSKY’S DEVOTION TO ZIONISM
Dr. Nahum Goldmann, chairman of the Jewish Agency, today issued a statement mourning the death of Prof. Brodetsky and emphasizing his devotion to Zionism and other Jewish causes. The statement reads:
“The passing of Prof. Selig Brodetsky has deprived the Jewish people and the Zionist movement of an outstanding leader, a man of great achievements and unparalleled devotion. A scholar of high standing, a statesman of distinguished calibre, he was for many years the recognized leader of British Zionism, one of the most important members of the Jewish Agency and World Zionist Executive, and, in his capacity as president of the Board of Deputies, the spokesman of British Jewry.
“There was no greater devotion than his to Jewish causes, and, above all, to Zionism. He truly gave his life for his ideals. In the heroic saga of the contemporary Jewish generation, and in the struggle for Jewish statehood, he occupied a prominent position and will figure as one of the central Jewish personalities in the annals of Jewish history of the past few decades.”
