Dr. Nahum Goldmann announced here today that, as president of the World Jewish Congress, he has been invited to visit Rumania. He made the announcement at a press conference here. He said Rumania’s Chief Rabbi M. Rosen extended the invitation which he has accepted. He expects to visit Rumania with a W.J.C. delegation at the end of this summer.

Speaking as president of the World Zionist Organization, which concluded its Actions Committee sessions in Jerusalem Sunday night, Dr. Goldmann said that Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion’s attacks against the Zionist movement had jeopardized any attempts to bring non-Zionist groups into the Zionist movement, even as associate members. “Zionism today,” he said, “means recognizing Israel as the center of the Jewish nation, and help it to be strong. Ben-Gurion is mistaken if he assumes even for a minute that non-Zionists regard Israel in that light,” he declared.

Dr. Goldmann also expressed regret that the Actions Committee did not accept a proposal that the Herut Party be given a place on the Jewish Agency’s executive. There is no practical or political reason for such refusal, he said. He also expressed regret that efforts to unite the two Confederations of General Zionists have not succeeded. Hardly anyone can draw a distinct line of division between these two parties,” he pointed out.
