American Jews are grateful to New Zealand for its attitude toward the United States as well as its friendship to Israel, Dr. Israel Goldstein, of New York, today told Walter Nash, New Zealand’s Prime Minister. Dr. Goldstein is here to help New Zealand Jewry inaugurate its United Israel Appeal.
At a conference with Mr. Nash, the American Jewish leader declared that Jews in the United States appreciate New Zealand’s friendship toward Israel, as shown since the State of Israel was created. Mr. Nash, emphasizing his government’s as well as his personal cordiality toward Israel, told Dr. Goldstein he is particularly interested in the steps Israel is taking for the development of its Negev area.
