Dr. Joseph Klibansky, leader of Orthodox Jewry in pre-war post-Hitler Germany and a well known lawyer in the West German Republic, died here suddenly this week-end. He was 55.
Legal adviser to the Association of Jewish communities of Hesse before 1933, he fled the country after the rise of the Nazis, going to Italy and France before returning to Germany in 1948. He was one of the attorneys who defended the late Philip Auerbach who was charged with fraud as head of the Bonn Restitution Office. Dr. Klibansky was also a member of the Agudas Israel World Organization.
