Dr. Judah J. Shapiro, Labor Zionist Alliance president, has given up his Labor Zionist mandate to the World Zionist Congress in order to create a vacancy for a young person to attend that meeting in Jerusalem in February. In a letter to members of the LZA national executive committee, Shapiro said his action is motivated by the fact that “we have been asked again and again that delegates to the Congress be chosen from among our younger members.” He hoped his action would set a precedent “to include new people with a fresh approach to the Congress and to Zionism.”
