Dr. Judah Magnes has registered with the Department of Justice as an agent of the Ihud Association of Jerusalem, which favors the establishment of a bi-national Arab-Jewish state in Palestine,” the Department announced today.
“Dr. Magnes declared that his purpose is to advocate Arab-Jewish cooperation and to form a group to aid in this work,” the announcement states. Dr. Magnes registered under terms of the Foreign Agents Registration Act of 1938 which requires registration with the Justice Department of all representatives in this country of foreign principals.
The United States Government is preparing a reply to a note from the Egyptian Government rejecting a U.S. protest over the imposition by it and Syria of a maritime blockaded of Palestine coastal waters, Secretary of State Marshall told his press conference today. The text of the Egyptian reply will not be made public, he said.
