Dr. David Lvovitch, chairman of the executive committee of the World ORT Union, arrived here today from Paris to participate in the negotiations which the American ORT Federation is conducting with the Joint Distribution Committee for a 1950 fund allocation.
“The number of ORT schools in Germany and in Austria is increasing since the expected liquidations of the DP camps in these countries has not materialized,” Dr. Lvovitch said in a statement to the press. “Many Jews are moving from the camps into cities and most do not intend to remain in Germany. They are therefore very anxious to learn a trade which will facilitate their emigration. As a result, our schools are attended by more students than before.”
